Gershom Penugula is the new-generation artist making waves in Telugu music. As a creative outlet, this 21-year-old from Visakhapatnam has begun writing lyrics based on his experiences and imagination and turning them into catchy tunes. Gershom embarks on his experimental musical journey with the KitKat EP. He found fame and recognition with his first album, Insomnia, which is nothing short of a classic love letter. This album is a wonderland that captures the ebbs and flows of love; each track is beautifully crafted to satisfy every ear. The album debuted at #1 in the Top 200 All Regional India and #3 in All Genres India on iTunes within a week of its release.
Notable hits include Baby Love, Fly, and Undipona, which got featured in popular playlists. Anchored by his unique fusion of R&B and hip-hop, this breakout artist aims for both style and substance. His new decade stream of success includes a sassy lockdown single, “Sad Song,” and two light-hearted and playful singles, “Pretty Girl” and “Love It.” Gershom also released the summertime cinematic masterpiece Oh Pilla, which has 300k+ streams on Spotify alone! OMG, the alter ego of Oh Pilla, released in November, is racing towards 150k streams on all platforms.
Inspired by his musical influence, Abel Tesfaye [The Weeknd], Gershom has blurred his professional periphery and gone beyond by turning into an entrepreneur. established a record label, GKAT Records Private Limited, along with his father, Suresh Penugula, in 2022. The label is solely dedicated to celebrating talent and providing a platform for upcoming indie artists. Set up with a sense of communal growth and support, the label allows other talented artists to collaborate, work, represent each other, and showcase their respective talents. The label also provides professional mentoring in fields including but not limited to production, marketing, and distribution. GKAT has secured a handful of milestones since its inception by bagging an international distribution deal and promotional deals with local radio and magazines.
